Mr. Sloss has acted as President of Sloss and its predecessor entities since 1952. Mr. Sloss began his real estate career working for his father on the extensive business and real estate holdings of Sloss's predecessor companies and assorted family holdings. In 1952 Mr. Sloss became President of Sloss, a position he held until 1993. He spearheaded the initiative that created a master plan for the redevelopment of the 36-block area known as the Lakeview District. Mr. Sloss continues to play an integral part in the day-to-day activities of the company.

Mr. Sloss studied at Sewanee Military Academy and Birmingham Southern College. He furthered his studies at the Language School of Saltillo, Mexico, the Roger Babson School of Finance, and the University of South Carolina. Mr. Sloss is also a licensed real estate broker in Alabama.

Mr. Sloss has an extensive history of civic and corporate leadership, currently including Birmingham Aero Club, Birmingham Soaring Society where he is a former President, The Southern Museum of Flight, and Cathedral Church of the Advent. Mr. Sloss is also a member of Beaux Arts Krewe, New York Yacht Club, The Club of Birmingham, and Mountain Brook Country Club. Mr. Sloss is an active licensed pilot of his Beech Bonanza A36 and his 54' Little Harbor sailboat.
